LINE Integration
How the "LINE official account" and "personal LINE" differ, what to check before connecting, and how to fix connection problems.
Last updated: 2026-09-29
There are two ways to connect Addness and LINE: "LINE Official Account" and "Personal LINE". Both appear under "LINE" in My Settings › Integrations, but what they do, where you connect them, and what you need are different.
If you want to talk to Addness's AI in LINE, use "LINE Official Account". If you want your usual AI (Claude Code, Codex) to read and send your own LINE messages, use "Personal LINE".
How the two integrations differ
| LINE Official Account | Personal LINE | |
|---|---|---|
| What you connect | Add Addness's official account as a friend in LINE | Log in to your own LINE account from the desktop app on your computer |
| What it does | Talk to Addness's AI in LINE and ask it to check, create, or complete goals, post comments, or change who is responsible | The AI you connected via MCP (Claude Code, Codex) reads and sends your LINE messages |
| LINE groups | Invite the official account to a group: it records the group's conversation (AI connected via MCP can read it too, for groups that include the person who linked the official account) and answers when @mentioned | The AI also reads and sends messages in groups you belong to |
| Where you connect | My Settings › Integrations (on the web or in the desktop app) | Only My Settings › Integrations in the desktop app |
| What you need | The LINE app | The desktop app (→ Web app and desktop app) and the LINE app on your phone |
| Computer | Not needed | Must be awake with the desktop app open |
| Where LINE data is kept | Addness's servers | Only on your computer (not stored on Addness's servers) |
| Organization | One LINE account can be linked to only one organization | Use the same organization for your AI and for the desktop app |
Connect the LINE Official Account
- Open My Settings › Integrations in Addness, and under "LINE", press "Link LINE" for "LINE Official Account"
- LINE's add-friend screen opens. Add Addness's official account as a friend
- The official account sends you a link for linking (valid for 30 minutes). Open it and log in with the same Addness account
- In "Select an organization to link", choose the organization and press "Link this organization"
- When 「連携完了」 (Linking complete) appears, you're done. When you send a message in LINE, the AI replies
- Change the linked organization: Send 「再連携」 in the one-on-one chat with the official account, then choose the organization again from the link it sends. One LINE account can be linked to only one organization
- The link says it is invalid or expired: Send 「再連携」 in the chat with the official account and open the new link
- "Linked to another organization" appears: It is linked to an organization other than the one you have open. To link it to this organization, first press "Disconnect", or send 「再連携」 in the chat
- Stop using it: Press "Disconnect" for "LINE Official Account" in My Settings › Integrations
- You can't link it to an organization you belong to as a guest
- It handles text only. If you send an image, the AI doesn't read it
Check before connecting Personal LINE
Personal LINE works by having the desktop app on your computer log in to your LINE account. Before connecting, make sure of the following.
- Supported computer: A Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later). Windows is in testing. Intel-based Macs are not supported
- Update the desktop app to the latest version: On a Mac, check with "Addness" → "Check for Updates..." in the menu bar (→ Web app and desktop app)
- Register an email address and password in LINE: In the LINE settings on your phone, register an email address and password so that you can log in with your email address and password. This is the email address and password you enter when connecting
- Keep your phone's LINE app at hand and up to date: To verify your identity, you enter a number shown on your computer into LINE on your phone
- Use the same account and organization: Log in to the desktop app with the same Addness account you use with your AI and your phone, and open the same organization
- Connect your AI to Addness: The AI you connected via MCP is what reads and sends LINE messages (→ MCP integration)
Connect Personal LINE
- Open the desktop app, and under "LINE" in My Settings › Integrations, press "Connect LINE" for "Personal LINE"
- Read "Before connecting your personal LINE" and press "I understand, start connecting"
- In "Log in to your LINE account", enter the email address and password registered in LINE and press "Next"
- A number (verification code) appears in "Verify your identity in LINE on your phone". Open LINE on your phone and enter that number on the input screen that appears
- When "LINE is connected" appears, you're done. After that, the desktop app loads your LINE chats
When loading finishes, ask your AI things like "Send △△ to ◯◯ on LINE" or "Summarize yesterday's conversation in the ×× group."
- Chats from before you connected: Messages from before you connected may not be readable, or only partly readable. Messages that arrive after you connect can be read
- How you send: Unusual use, such as sending in bulk or sending large numbers of messages, can break LINE's terms and your LINE account may become unusable. Use it within the range of your normal LINE messaging
- Stop using it: Press "Disconnect LINE" in My Settings › Integrations in the desktop app. Connect again to resume
When Personal LINE doesn't connect
Fixes for each message on the connection screen:
- The number input screen doesn't appear in LINE on your phone: Update LINE on your phone to the latest version, close it once, and open it again. If it still doesn't appear, press "Cancel" and start again from "Connect LINE"
- "LINE did not accept the email address or password": Check your email address and password, and enter them again. If you haven't registered an email address in LINE, register it in LINE on your phone first
- "This authentication method is not supported": Make it possible to log in with your email address and password, then start again from "Connect LINE"
- "The verification wait has ended": Time ran out before you entered the number. Start again from "Connect LINE"
- "Authentication required" appears with "Authenticate again": Press "Authenticate again" and enter your email address and password again
- "Conversation import has stopped": Check your internet connection and your computer's free disk space, then press "Resume"
- 「このPCでは利用できません(対応: Apple Silicon Mac / Windows x64)」 ("Not available on this PC"): Personal LINE can't be used on this computer. Use a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later)
- "Personal LINE connections are available in a supported macOS version of Addness Desktop.": The app is old, or the computer isn't supported. Update the app to the latest version and open it again
- It stopped and won't move on: Quit the desktop app, open it again, and try again. If it still doesn't work, update the app to the latest version
When you ask your AI, it may also reply with messages like these (the AI may show them in Japanese):
- 「本人のAddness Desktopに接続できません」 (Can't connect to your Addness Desktop): The desktop app on your computer is closed, or your computer is asleep. Wake your computer and open the app. If the desktop app is open on more than one computer, the one you opened last is used
- 「LINEもMessengerも未接続」 (Neither LINE nor Messenger is connected): Personal LINE isn't connected yet. Connect it with the steps above. If you get this even after connecting, check that the organization your AI is connected to is the same as the one open in the desktop app
- 「LINE会話を準備中です」 (Preparing LINE chats): Loading your chats hasn't finished. Wait a little and ask again
- 「Agentがこの操作を受け付けませんでした」 (The Agent didn't accept this operation): Update the desktop app to the latest version. Also check that your computer is supported
Settings display on the web
- In a browser, "Personal LINE" only shows how to install the app: Whether Personal LINE is connected is recorded only inside the desktop app on your computer. Addness in a browser keeps showing how to install the app, even after you connect. To check whether you are connected, open My Settings › Integrations in the desktop app
- In a browser on Windows, "LINE integration on Windows is coming soon" appears: Personal LINE in the Windows desktop app is in testing. If "Connect LINE" appears in My Settings › Integrations in the Windows app, follow its guidance. If it doesn't, use a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later)
- "Linked to another organization" appears for "LINE Official Account": The LINE Official Account is linked to a different organization (→ Connect the LINE Official Account)
