Getting started as an organization
The 3 steps to get started as an organization: the representative's setup, owners and the whole picture, and inviting members and connecting their AI.
Last updated: 2026-10-15
When bringing Addness into a company or team, go through 3 steps. First, the representative (the person who decided to bring Addness in) connects their own AI, finishes setup, and puts the company's goal into Addness. Next, assign owners to the goals and shape the whole picture. Finally, invite members, and each of them connects their own AI.
If you want to go through it together with our staff, use our free onboarding support. Our staff help with everything from how to start as a team, to how to place your first goals, to how to spread Addness to your members.
1. The representative connects their own AI and finishes setup
Create the organization with a company email address (such as your company Google account). You can't switch a personal account to a company account later (→ FAQ).
When you create an organization, your goal page includes "Set up Addness." Go through its 4 rows from the top, together with your AI.
| Row | What to do |
|---|---|
| 1. Connect your AI to Addness | Connect Claude Code or Codex to Addness |
| 2. Connect your work tools | Connect your email, calendar, chat, documents, and so on to the AI, so the AI can grasp what your work is about |
| 3. Break "(your company's goal)" down into goals | Under the top goal (your company's goal), line up the projects that are running now as goals |
| 4. Decide your ToDos | From the goals you broke down, put the ones to start on right away into your ToDos |
Press "Ask AI" on the first row, and the AI app on your computer opens and the AI works through the rows in order, up to the fourth one. How to install the AI app and how to proceed are in Install an AI app and connect it to Addness.
The AI of each member who joins later reads the company's goal entered here, and works from it.
One company goal at the very top
There is only one top goal per organization. You can't create a second one. Put the company (or department) goal there, and put projects beneath it as child goals.

To keep things separate (e.g., work and personal life)
① Put them underneath
Organization
People assigned to the top goal can also see the goals below it
② Use separate organizations
Organization A
Organization B
Each organization has its own single top goal. For a new organization, you also choose a plan
Each organization has exactly one top goal
If you want to keep things separate, such as work and personal life, do one of the following.
- Put them underneath: Under the top goal, add child goals such as "Work" and "Personal life." Everyone assigned to the top goal can see all the goals below it
- Use separate organizations: Use this for goals you don't want others to see. When you create another organization, it gets its own top goal. You can create one from "Create a new organization" in the organization switcher (at the very top of the sidebar on PC) (→ Understanding the Sidebar & Screens). For a new organization, you choose a plan during sign-up (→ Plans & Billing)
Write the state when the goal is achieved in the goal's Ideal.
→ For how to create child goals, see Goal page
→ For how to view the whole tree, see Goal detail page
2. Assign owners and shape the whole picture
Assign an owner (one person), editors, and members to each project's goal. A higher goal's permissions are inherited below it, so assigning them on a project's goal gives the same permissions to every goal under it. People you haven't invited yet can be invited to that goal directly with an invite link in step 3.
Meetings can be started from a goal. During a call, press "Start creating notes" and choose a language, and recording begins. When the meeting ends, the minutes the AI made are saved to that goal's resources. You can keep materials in Drive and screen explanations as screen recordings. A goal's resources, Drive, and screen recordings can also be read by the AI of members connected via MCP (only within what that member can see).

3. Invite members, and each connects their own AI
Create an invite link from "Invite" on the members list page and share it via a chat tool or the like. On the invite link, specify the invitee goal (usually the top goal is selected from the start) and the permission on that goal. People who join are assigned to that goal and can see the sub-tree beneath it. Make people who only view and comment members, and the people who build the goals **editors. ** The permissions also include Owner (the same role as the "owner" in step 2), but you don't choose it in invitations; owners are decided per goal. People you invite through "Invite members" at the end of registration when creating an organization join with edit access to all of the organization's goals (you can change permissions per goal later). People who newly join through an invite link first see the "Your name and photo in ◯◯" screen. Enter a name and press "Save and start" to begin (you can also choose a photo). You can change the name and photo later in settings.
Use "Ask AI" next to "Invite," and the AI asks you "who to hand what to" while preparing everything from the goal for the work to hand over, an invite link that assigns the person to that goal, to the message to send them (it checks with you before sending).
If members create their own organization, it will be separate from the company's. To join the company's organization, they join from the invite link.
→ For the steps and permission types, see Permissions and member management
The goal page of members who joined by invitation also includes "Set up Addness." They proceed the same way as the representative, starting from "Ask AI" on the first row. Connection is done one person at a time, with each person's own account. The third row is "3. Break your own responsibilities down into goals," and the member's AI reads the company's goal, then breaks goals down within the scope of that person's responsibilities and decides their ToDos.
