LINE and Messenger Integration

How the "LINE official account", "personal LINE", and "personal Messenger" differ, what to check before connecting, and how to fix connection problems.

Last updated: 2026-10-19

There are two ways to connect Addness and LINE: "LINE Official Account" and "Personal LINE". Both appear under "LINE" in My Settings › Integrations, but what they do, where you connect them, and what you need are different.

Like Personal LINE, your personal Facebook Messenger can also be connected from the desktop app so that your AI reads and sends your messages. It is available in the desktop app on a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later), version 0.2.69 or later, and on 64-bit Windows, version 0.2.73 or later (→ Connect Personal Messenger).

If you want to talk to Addness's AI in LINE, use "LINE Official Account". If you want your usual AI (Claude Code, Codex) to read and send your own LINE messages, use "Personal LINE". For Messenger, use "Personal Messenger".

LINE groupsInvite the official account to a group: it records the group's conversation (AI connected via MCP can read it too, for groups that include the person who linked the official account) and answers when @mentionedThe AI also reads and sends messages in groups you belong to

OrganizationOne LINE account can be linked to only one organizationUse the same organization for your AI and for the desktop app

Connect the LINE Official Account

  1. Open My Settings › Integrations in Addness, and under "LINE", press "Link LINE" for "LINE Official Account"
  2. LINE's add-friend screen opens. Add Addness's official account as a friend
  3. The official account sends you a link for linking (valid for 30 minutes). Open it and log in with the same Addness account
  4. In "Select an organization to link", choose the organization and press "Link this organization"
  5. When 「連携完了」 (Linking complete) appears, you're done. When you send a message in LINE, the AI replies
  • Change the linked organization: Send 「再連携」 in the one-on-one chat with the official account, then choose the organization again from the link it sends. One LINE account can be linked to only one organization
  • The link says it is invalid or expired: Send 「再連携」 in the chat with the official account and open the new link
  • "Linked to another organization" appears: It is linked to an organization other than the one you have open. To link it to this organization, first press "Disconnect", or send 「再連携」 in the chat
  • Stop using it: Press "Disconnect" for "LINE Official Account" in My Settings › Integrations
  • You can't link it to an organization you belong to as a guest
  • It handles text only. If you send an image, the AI doesn't read it

Check before connecting Personal LINE

Personal LINE works by having the desktop app on your computer log in to your LINE account. Before connecting, make sure of the following.

  • Supported computer: A Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later) or 64-bit Windows. Intel-based Macs and ARM-based Windows are not supported
  • Update the desktop app to the latest version: On a Mac, check with "Addness" → "Check for Updates..." in the menu bar (→ Web app and desktop app)
  • Register an email address and password in LINE: In the LINE settings on your phone, register an email address and password so that you can log in with your email address and password. This is the email address and password you enter when connecting
  • Keep your phone's LINE app at hand and up to date: To verify your identity, you enter a number shown on your computer into LINE on your phone
  • Use the same account and organization: Log in to the desktop app with the same Addness account you use with your AI and your phone, and open the same organization
  • Connect your AI to Addness: The AI you connected via MCP is what reads and sends LINE messages (→ MCP integration)

Connect Personal LINE

  1. Open the desktop app, and under "LINE" in My Settings › Integrations, press "Connect LINE" for "Personal LINE"
  2. Read "Before connecting your personal LINE" and press "I understand, start connecting"
  3. In "Log in to your LINE account", enter the email address and password registered in LINE and press "Next"
  4. A number (verification code) appears in "Verify your identity in LINE on your phone". Open LINE on your phone and enter that number on the input screen that appears
  5. When "LINE is connected" appears, you're done. After that, the desktop app loads your LINE chats

When loading finishes, ask your AI things like "Send △△ to ◯◯ on LINE" or "Summarize yesterday's conversation in the ×× group."

  • Check that it's connected: If "Connected" appears for "Personal LINE" in My Settings › Integrations in the desktop app, it's connected. If "AI read and write" below it shows "Connected", your AI can read and send messages
  • Which chats it reads: One-on-one chats and the chats of groups you belong to. There is no setting to keep only specific people or groups from being read. For people you don't want it to read, tell the AI "Don't read or send chats with ◯◯" when you ask, or disconnect the integration
  • Chats from before you connected: Messages from before the day you connect can't be read. Messages that arrive after you connect can be read
  • When you close your computer: The AI reads and sends LINE messages only while the computer with the desktop app open is awake. It stops when you close the computer and it sleeps, and works again when you wake it and open the app. To keep it always available, don't let that computer sleep and keep the app open. The desktop app is available only for Mac and Windows
  • Using two or more computers: The AI reads and sends through one computer. When another computer is using it, "AI read and write" shows "Used by another PC". To use the computer you're on, press "Switch to this PC"
  • How you send: Unusual use, such as sending in bulk or sending large numbers of messages, can break LINE's terms and your LINE account may become unusable. Use it within the range of your normal LINE messaging
  • Where data is kept: Your LINE login information and chats are stored only on your computer, not on Addness's servers. However, if you ask the AI to "Visualize my relationships" and your LINE friends are imported into Relationships, their display names and message counts (such as when you last talked) are saved to Addness. Only you can see them
  • Stop using it: Press "Disconnect LINE" in My Settings › Integrations in the desktop app. Connect again to resume. If the account still appears in LINE's list of logged-in devices, you can remove it in LINE's settings on your phone (Addness can no longer use it)

When Personal LINE doesn't connect

Fixes for each message on the connection screen:

  • The number input screen doesn't appear in LINE on your phone: Update LINE on your phone to the latest version, close it once, and open it again. If it still doesn't appear, press "Cancel" and start again from "Connect LINE"
  • "LINE did not accept the email address or password": Check your email address and password, and enter them again. If you haven't registered an email address in LINE, register it in LINE on your phone first
  • "This authentication method is not supported": Make it possible to log in with your email address and password, then start again from "Connect LINE". If it still appears, update the desktop app to the latest version and try again
  • "The verification wait has ended": Time ran out before you entered the number. Start again from "Connect LINE"
  • "Authentication required" appears with "Authenticate again": Press "Authenticate again" and enter your email address and password again
  • "Could not confirm the connection. Please try again.": Logging in to LINE failed partway (for a reason other than a wrong email address or password, or a timeout). Press "Cancel", then start again from "Connect LINE". If it keeps appearing, update the desktop app and LINE on your phone to the latest version and try again
  • "AI read and write" shows "Stopped": Press "Reconnect". Also press "Reconnect" when "This PC couldn't be verified." or "Couldn't confirm your Addness Desktop sign-in." appears
  • "Conversation import has stopped": Check your internet connection and your computer's free disk space, then press "Resume"
  • 「このPCでは利用できません(対応: Apple Silicon Mac / Windows x64)」 ("Not available on this PC"): Personal LINE can't be used on this computer. Use a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later) or a 64-bit Windows PC
  • "Personal LINE connections are available in the latest Addness Desktop for Windows (64-bit) and Apple Silicon Macs.": The app is old, or the computer isn't supported. Update the app to the latest version and open it again
  • It stopped and won't move on: Quit the desktop app, open it again, and try again. If it still doesn't work, update the app to the latest version
  • "Could not start the LINE integration, so Addness is retrying automatically. Please wait.": Addness Desktop is retrying the start automatically. Just wait.
  • "Could not start the LINE integration. Quit Addness and open it again. If that doesn't help, restart your PC.": Even the automatic retries could not start it. As shown, quit Addness Desktop and open it again. If that doesn't help, restart your computer.

When you ask your AI, it may also reply with messages like these (the AI may show them in Japanese):

  • 「本人のAddness Desktopに接続できません」 (Can't connect to your Addness Desktop): The desktop app on your computer is closed, or your computer is asleep. Wake your computer and open the app. If the desktop app is open on more than one computer, the one you opened last is used
  • 「LINEもMessengerも未接続」 (Neither LINE nor Messenger is connected): Personal LINE isn't connected yet. Connect it with the steps above. If you get this even after connecting, check that the organization your AI is connected to is the same as the one open in the desktop app
  • 「LINE会話を準備中です」 (Preparing LINE chats): Loading your chats hasn't finished. Wait a little and ask again
  • 「本人のAddness Desktopがこの操作を受け付けませんでした」 (Your Addness Desktop didn't accept this operation) or 「本人のAddness Desktopがこの操作に対応していません」 (Your Addness Desktop doesn't support this operation): Right after the app starts or reconnects, it is often still getting ready, so wait a little and ask again. If it keeps happening, or if it says the operation isn't supported, restart the desktop app and update it to the latest version. Also check that your computer is supported

Connect Personal Messenger

Personal Messenger works by having the desktop app log in to Messenger with your Facebook account. The AI you connected via MCP (Claude Code, Codex) can then read and send your Messenger one-on-one and group chats.

  • Supported computer: The desktop app on a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later) needs version 0.2.69 or later, and the desktop app on 64-bit Windows needs version 0.2.73 or later. It can't be used on Intel-based Macs, on ARM-based Windows, or on the web (in a browser)
  • Update the desktop app to the latest version: On a Mac, check with "Addness" → "Check for Updates..." in the menu bar. On Windows, press 「更新して再起動」 (Update and restart) when it appears in the app (→ Web app and desktop app)
  • Connect your AI to Addness: The AI you connected via MCP is what reads and sends Messenger messages (→ MCP integration)
  1. Open the desktop app, and under "Messenger" in My Settings › Integrations, press "Connect Messenger" for "Personal Messenger"
  2. Read "Before connecting your personal Messenger" and press "I understand, start connecting"
  3. A separate Facebook login window opens. Log in to Facebook in that window. Two-factor authentication also happens in the same window
  4. When your login is confirmed, the window closes and "Messenger is connected" appears. After that, the desktop app loads your Messenger chats

When loading finishes, ask your AI things like "Send △△ to ◯◯ on Messenger" or "Summarize yesterday's conversation in the ×× group."

  • You can't find the login window: On a Mac, right-click the "Addness" icon in the Dock and choose the Facebook login window from the list. On Windows, click the "Addness" icon in the taskbar and choose the Facebook login window. If you still can't find it, press "Cancel" and start again from "Connect Messenger"
  • "Complete the identity check on Facebook" appears: Complete the identity check on Facebook, then connect again
  • "Could not start the Messenger integration, so Addness is retrying automatically. Please wait.": Addness Desktop is retrying the start automatically. Just wait.
  • "Could not start the Messenger integration. Quit Addness and open it again. If that doesn't help, restart your PC.": Even the automatic retries could not start it. As shown, quit Addness Desktop and open it again. If that doesn't help, restart your computer.
  • Encrypted chats: Messages from before the day you connect can't be read. Messages that arrive after you connect can be read
  • How you send: Unusual use, such as sending in bulk or sending large numbers of messages, can break Meta's terms and your Facebook account may become unusable. Use it within the range of your normal Messenger messaging
  • Where data is kept: Your Facebook login information and messages are stored only on your computer. They are not stored on Addness's servers
  • Stop using it: Press "Disconnect Messenger" in My Settings › Integrations in the desktop app. Connect again to resume. If the account still appears in Facebook's list of logged-in devices, you can remove it in Facebook's settings (Addness can no longer use it)

When "Messenger" doesn't appear in Settings

"Messenger" in My Settings › Integrations appears in the browser and in the desktop app on any computer. "Connect Messenger" appears only in the desktop app (latest version) on a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later) or on 64-bit Windows. If "Connect Messenger" doesn't appear, check the button and text shown under "Personal Messenger".

  • "Download for Mac" or "Download for Windows" appears: You have Addness open in a browser, or the desktop app is an old version. Install the desktop app or update it to the latest version, then open My Settings › Integrations inside the app. On a Mac, update with "Addness" → "Check for Updates..." in the menu bar. On Windows, press 「更新して再起動」 (Update and restart) when it appears in the app
  • No button appears, only "Personal Messenger connections are available in the latest Addness Desktop for Windows (64-bit) and Apple Silicon Macs.": The computer doesn't support Messenger. It can't be used on Intel-based Macs or on ARM-based Windows
  • The AI replies 「Messengerの部品が動いていません」 (The Messenger component isn't running): Messenger isn't connected, or the connection has dropped. Check the connection status under "Messenger" in My Settings › Integrations in the desktop app, and reconnect if it has dropped

Settings display on the web

  • In a browser, "Personal LINE" only shows how to install the app: Whether Personal LINE is connected is recorded only inside the desktop app on your computer. Addness in a browser keeps showing how to install the app, even after you connect. To check whether you are connected, open My Settings › Integrations in the desktop app
  • In a browser on Windows, "Available in the latest Addness Desktop for Windows (64-bit)" appears: You can connect Personal LINE in the latest desktop app on 64-bit Windows. Install the app from "Download for Windows", open it, and press "Connect LINE" under "Personal LINE" in My Settings › Integrations. If "Connect LINE" doesn't appear, update the app to the latest version and open it again. It can't be used on ARM-based Windows
  • "Linked to another organization" appears for "LINE Official Account": The LINE Official Account is linked to a different organization (→ Connect the LINE Official Account)
