Notifications Page

Manage notifications for mentions, thread replies, and more.

Last updated: 2026-10-15

What this page is for

The notifications page is the screen that gathers the notifications addressed to you in one place.

  • Comments where you were @mentioned
  • Updates to goals you're involved in
  • Replies to threads
  • Reactions to comments
  • Goal assignment notifications
  • Mentions and thread replies in DMs and groups (regular messages don't appear in notifications; check them through the unread marks in chat)
  • AI-task completion and failure notifications
  • The weekly usage report

These notifications (for the organization you currently have open) line up chronologically, and you can manage read/unread. When there are unread Network notifications, a single row "◯ Network notifications →" appears at the top of the list regardless of filter or sort order, and pressing it opens the Network notification list in a new browser tab. With no unread ones, nothing is shown. The count on the notification icon includes unread organization and Network notifications together, but the "Unread" count in the list and actions such as "Mark as read" apply only to organization notifications.

Notifications arrive even when the notifications page isn't open, and the unread count appears on the notification icon (in the left sidebar on desktop, in the bottom bar on mobile). They can also be delivered by email or Slack (→ Changing how you receive notifications). Notifications older than 180 days disappear from the list (notifications where you were mentioned in a goal's comment remain).

Screen layout

Left panel: notification list

The left side of the screen shows the list of notifications.

  • Controls at the top: The gear "Notification settings" is at the right end of the "Inbox" heading. In the row below it, the "Unread" / "All" switch is on the left, and the sort order ("Latest" / "Oldest") and the "Type" filter are on the right. Under "Type," you can choose from "Mentions," "DM / Groups," "Comments," "Threads," "Reactions," "Goals," "Assignments," "AI," and "Meetings" (multiple allowed). On mobile, switch the view with "Show all" at the bottom right of the screen
  • Notification card: Each notification is shown as a card

Notification card layout:

  • The notification type's icon (@mention, thread, reaction, etc.; hover to see the type name)
  • The goal name
  • The poster's avatar and name
  • A preview of the content (the opening part)
  • The post time

Right main area: notification detail

The detail of the notification selected on the left is shown (on mobile, press a notification to open its detail).

  • Goal info card: The title and assignee of the notification's target goal. Clicking the card opens that goal's goal detail page
  • Comment body: full display, the flow of the thread
  • Reply input: for comment-type notifications, you can reply right there
  • Action buttons: "Skip," "Mark as read"

In an assignment notification, if the goal isn't completed yet, "Add to ToDos" appears so you can add it to your ToDos right there. After adding, "In your ToDos" is shown, and you can remove it with "Remove from ToDos" or open the goal page with "View in the Execute tab."

For notifications not tied to a goal, such as the usage report, your subscription, or customer lists, the content is shown along with a button that opens the related screen.

Marking notifications as read

Pressing "Mark as read" marks that notification as read, and the unread count drops.

How to use

  1. Click the notification you want to check from the list
  2. The detail appears on the right
  3. Once you've checked the content, click the "Mark as read" button at the bottom
  4. The notification turns read, and the next unread notification appears

SkipMark as read

Just clear notifications from the top with "Mark as read." From a goal notification, you can open that goal right away

On desktop, when one unread remains, a message such as "Just one more!" appears.

If you mark something as read by mistake, undo it with "Mark as Unread" (on mobile, "Undo"), which appears right after. To undo it later, use "Mark as unread" on the read notification.

Mark several as read at once: Press "Select multiple" at the top right of the notification list, select notifications, and press "Mark as read" in the bar that appears at the bottom. You can select up to 20 at a time. To mark all unread notifications as read, check "Select all" in the "Unread" view, then press "Mark as read". When you've filtered by "Type," all unread notifications of that type are marked as read.

Changing how you receive notifications

Notification settings are in two places. Both apply to the organization you currently have open.

  • The gear at the top right of the notification list ("Notification settings"): Switch "Everyone's activity" and "Notification types you receive" (explained below) right there
  • My Settings › Notifications: Set "Delivery channels" and "What you receive"

Under "Delivery channels," turn Email Notifications, Slack Notifications, and Browser Notifications on or off individually. To use Slack notifications, an organization admin first connects the Slack workspace in Organization settings › Integrations. Then turn on Slack notifications and, following the steps shown, invite the bot to the channel where you want to receive notifications and run the command with the connection code. Browser notifications arrive in the browser you're using now; with "Also send goal comments as browser notifications," shown when you turn them on, you choose whether goal comments and replies arrive too. When "Turn on browser notifications" appears above the notification list, you can also turn them on from "Turn on."

Under "Everyone's activity" in "What you receive," choose from three options how much of what happens under your goals (members' completions, creations, etc.) you receive. It's the same setting whether you change it from the gear or from My Settings.

OptionWhat arrives
"Goals where you're the owner or editor"Everything that happens under goals where you're the owner or editor
"Only goals where you're the owner"Only what happens under goals where you're the owner. Nothing under goals where you're an editor
"Off" (default)Nothing about movement in the goals under yours

Whichever you choose, mentions, comments, and assignments addressed to you, and overdue alerts, still arrive ("Notifications to you and overdue alerts always arrive"). When you narrow the scope, "Skipped notifications don't arrive later" is shown. What happened while the scope was narrower won't arrive even if you widen it later.

"Notification types you receive" lets you turn notifications off by type (Mentions, DM, Groups, Comments, Threads, Reactions, Goals, Assignments, AI, Meetings, Customers). Notifications of a type you turn off arrive neither in the notification list nor by email, Slack, or push notification. To stop only customer-list notifications, turn off "Customers." Notifications about KPI definition updates stopping fall under "Goals," so you can't stop only those. Overdue alerts, incoming meeting calls, requests awaiting approval, notices about a subscription ending, and the like arrive even if you turn them off. Notifications from while a type is off won't arrive even if you turn it back on later.

Customer listsSomeone was added to a list by "Add customers automatically," or the intake stopped"Open customer". If it stopped, "Open list settings"

Routines also have notifications for when something didn't go well. When an auto-add couldn't happen because the destination goal was completed or deleted, it arrives with the reason (if the destination was completed, the routine is auto-paused). → Templates page

There are two kinds of usage report, sent to different people. "Usage report: last week’s highlights" goes to the admins and the organization owner in organizations on the Focus or Unlimited plan. "Usage report: your last week" goes to members who used Addness in the last 28 days, regardless of plan.

"Your subscription is ending soon" goes to the admins and the organization owner 3 days before a canceled subscription ends. "Member’s source organization" notifications go to the external member themselves and to admins. The notification for someone being added to a customer list goes to the people chosen under "Notify members" in the "Add customers automatically" settings.

Besides these, notifications such as comments, meeting invitations, resource additions, overdue alerts, and membership requests from guests arrive.

Skipping notifications

Pressing "Skip" leaves that notification unread and moves on to the next one.

When you skip:

  • That notification stays unread
  • The next notification appears

How to use

  1. Show the notification detail
  2. Click the "Skip" button
  3. The next unread notification appears
  4. The skipped notification remains shown as "unread"
